Then go the right of the page and choose Email Notification from Security Central. This sends notifications of security updates before these reach Windows Update. If you subscribe to this, check that the security issue in the mailing does indeed cover your Windows set-up and Windows programs that you have installed and use.

In addition, some viruses are also contained within the body of the email, so merely previewing the email will infect a computer
IF the computer has not been updated with this MICROSOFT PATCH FOR INTERNET EXPLORER 5.01 AND 5.5

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS01-027.asp.

If you are running Internet Explorer 5.01 or Internet Explorer 5.5 and have not installed the above patch, it is highly recommended that you do so now. IE 6 already has the patch included.

Remember to always keep your anti-virus programs fully up-to-date and to frequently check for new updates and definitions. It's recommended to do this at least once a week, and daily during periods when it's known that a particularly bad virus is doing the rounds.
